Mother Road Hostel

Things to Know

We are perfectly located in the heart of downtown albuquerque

Whether you’d like to find a quiet cafe to enjoy breakfast in, or you’d like to see an improv show on a Friday night, all of the city’s main attractions are within walking distance! There's plenty activities and hidden gems along Historic Route 66 that you just have to experience for yourself.

If you'd prefer to stay in, our charming old building is a friendly and safe space where you can connect with other travelers. We provide you with a fun living room, a great dining room and kitchen, a lovely front porch, and (most importantly) comfortable beds in nice rooms, all with big beautiful windows. Come experience our unique atmosphere and discover the Mother Road Charm, with breakfast on us!

Check In & Check Out

Check in is at 3:30PM, and check out is at 10:30AM. If you are arriving later than 10:30PM, please contact us by phone , email or text. Our staff will attempt to contact you if we have not heard from you prior to closing and late night instructions will be emailed to you. If you need a later check out, please  ask the front desk.  If you decide to check out on an earlier date, you will be refunded half the total of the remaining reservation cost.

All of our rooms are non-smoking! If you choose to smoke in the room, you will be charged $100. We hate to do this, but too many people have ignored the rules. It takes several hours of cleaning to remove smoke residue. Smoking is allowed out in the alley at the back of the property away from the building and in front under the tree.

Children & Animals

Children must be attended by you, the parent or legal guardian, at all times. They cannot be left in the attendance of any of our staff or left unaccompanied anywhere in the building including your room. Service dogs are welcome. All other dogs require a $50 non refundable pet cleaning fee.

Unpleasant Activity

Please be respectful and kind to all. Hard drugs or obnoxious intoxication of any kind is not permitted. We reserve the right to remove problem guests from the premisses. Please do not not steal from us. We are a small family business. There is a $100 fee for any missing room items, bedding, or towels. Take care of your room key. Missing keys are a $25 charge.

Cancellation Policy

Individual guests may cancel a confirmed reservation without penalty up to fourteen days prior to scheduled arrival. Late cancellations will incur a minimum charge equal to one scheduled night's stay. Guests who wish to check out earlier than their original check out date will be refunded half of the amount of the remainder of their reserved stay plus a refund processing fee. These nominal fees vary depending on length of stay.

What Travelers Think

Thoroughly enjoyed the stay here and would love to stay again!  It has an inviting nature about it, and we hung out with fellow travelers with ease.  The house is old and has a lot of character.  The location was great and the staff was extremely friendly.  The room was clean, temperature, and spacious.

I had a wonderful stay. I was able to easily walk to and from my event at the convention center. There were plenty of restaurants near by. And Arts District is up the street. The other way are more restaurants and night life. The staff at the hostel were super friendly. They asked if my room was a good temperature. One night they made sure to tell me it was going to be colder that night and did I want an extra blanket. I would happily stay there again.

This hostel is the bomb!!! I’ve stayed at quite a few hostels in the USA and this one just managed to bump its way to the best hostel experience I have had so far! The owners Joel and Rachel are just beautiful people who deserve an attaboy the size of New Mexico for creating this super cosy, social and safe space for travellers like you and me. It’s an ancient building full of character and it’s kept clean by this killer crew who become this family you never had. So a big shoutout for those guys!!! You know who you are;) I am already recommending this place to other travellers and I hope I’ll be back to stay again.

True travelers know a good hostel vibe is all about the people and the community space offered. This place delivers one hundred percent! Modest but very clean rooms, attentive and kind staff! I met international PhD Students in town for a conference, former ABQ residents that gave me great sightseeing recommendations, and many more beautiful travelers during my stay. This place rules I will be back! Thanks for keeping the vibe high mother road.

The staff are super helpful and friendly!! Thanks for giving me a lot of advice and suggestion! And sometimes we could see the beautiful smart dog. It's a small house atmosphere place,so the public area was very social maybe because of the fiesta. I could meet many solo travelers to talk and hang out together. Location is between downtown and old town, you can walk to both so it's amazing! Nice quiet area along the route 66. I was gonna stay for a night but ended up to stay for 3 nights. Oh,and the coffee taste so good!! I really loved this place!
